For goods of different widths, the appropriate roller length (i.e., the length of the roller surface, denoted by symbol W) should be selected. For linear conveying, generally, the following formula can be referred to for selection :
W = B + △B Where B - the width of the goods
△B - the width allowance, usually ranging from 50 to 100 (mm)
For goods with a very rigid bottom, without affecting normal conveying and safety, the width of the goods can be slightly larger than the roller surface length. Generally, it can be taken as: W ≥ 0.8B
To ensure the smooth transportation of the goods, the selection principle for the roller spacing (i.e., the center distance, denoted by the symbol T) is as follows: at any given moment of transportation, there should be at least 3 rollers supporting the goods, that is, T ≤ 1/3L.
1) For goods requiring smooth transportation, T can be set to (1/4 - 1/5)L or smaller;
2) For goods with high flexibility and slender shape, the deflection of the goods can also be considered: the deflection of the goods on one roller spacing should be less than 1/500 of the roller spacing; otherwise, it will greatly increase the movement resistance;
3) The spacing for double-chain transportation must also satisfy the formula: T = np/2;
4) The spacing of the multi-wedge belt pulley rollers is constrained by the type of the multi-wedge belt.
